Augusta, GA---New homes are coming to the nine hundred block of James Brown Boulevard. Mayor Copenhaver and the Augusta Neighborhood Improvement Corporation broke ground on a new development called the Enclave.
Senator Ed Tarver calls it a community triumph. "There is some use for these communities that we can come in and rebuild homes, that we can bring families back downtown, that we can allow professionals to come and work closer to their jobs, so this is all good for the community."
The new three story townhomes will boast three bedrooms and three baths. A-nic president, Robert Cooks, calls it ideal for people from all walks of life. He says, "We work to resurrect the community and this will be a demonstration of neighborhood revitalization that attracts all people no matter what class, race, or income."
Still to come...a new courthouse, shopping center, and single family housing. Mayor Copenhaver also confirms plans are still underway for a hotel, office space, and luxury condos along the riverfront. The ground breaking is scheduled for the first of the year. Mayor Copenhaver says, "This is just another sign of progress in this community and folks in Augusta should be excited, I know I am."
