Aiken County Superintendent Search Update
Richmond and Columbia Counties have new superintendents this year, but this morning, the Aiken County Board of Education is still looking for one.
Monday night, members met at North Augusta High School to talk about replacing retired Superintendent Doctor Linda Eldredge.
The application deadline is the last day of this month.
After that, the search committee will review the applications and recommend its top ten candidates to the board.
A decision should happen by the end of October.

Giuliani Campaigns in Aiken Today
The presidential campaign is coming to our neck of the woods this morning.
Republican hopeful Rudy Giuliani will speak at 9:30 am at the Odell Weeks Activity Center on Whiskey Road.

Third Trial for Burke County Man
Jury selection begins this week in the third trial of a Burke County man accused of killing his wife and step-daughter.
Willie Palmer spent several years on death row before the state supreme court ordered a new trial.
His first trial ended in a mistrial.
During his second one, the jury convicted him and sentenced palmer to die, but the court overturned that because a witness had been paid.

Family Loses Everything in Fire
A Langley family is struggling to get back on its feet after losing everything to a fire .
The Bass-Jackson family got a phone call Saturday night on their way back from a weekend vacation in Manhattan.
That call was from a friend, who told them their home was on fire.
When they got there, everything was gone.

Jobs Coming to Augusta
Another company is expanding in Augusta.
Equity Residential announced it's consolidating all of its field accounting operations.
That means the company will have about 35 new positions.
