Hans gets life in prison

August 10, 2007

GREENVILLE, S.C.---An arsonist who killed six in a hotel fire will not be executed. A Greenville judge said this morning he would sentence Eric Hans to life in prison for the 2004 fire set at a Greenville Comfort Inn.

The judge's decision was made when the jury in the case couldn't reach a decision on whether Hans should get the death penalty.

One of the victims was a North Augusta woman, 19-year-old Alison Barfield.
