Barnwell to Get 300 New Jobs
The 4th largest provider of residential cabinetry in the country is expanding to Barnwell.
Elkay Cabinet Division is looking to hire 300 people.
The company plans to refurbish the old Efco Industrial Plant over the next year and start hiring by the 2nd quarter of 2008.

Plant Vogtle Plans to Add Jobs
This morning, a local nuclear energy plant is looking at building two new reactors.
If the project's approved, Plant Vogtle will be able to provide energy for more homes and will have to hire about a thousand new workers.
The earliest the plan could be approved is December 2008.

New Georgia Health Care
Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue wants to help the uninsured people in Georgia with a new plan.
It's called the Health Insurance Partnership for Georgia.
Under the plan, there will be affordable healthcare options for small business owners and employees.
Costs will be shared by the employee, employer, and a combination of state and federal funds.
It will be available next year.

Free Rx Drugs
Here's some news you can use this morning.
Publix is offering some free prescription drugs at all its stores with pharmacies.
Those drugs include seven popular antibiotics like penicillin.
You can get up to a two week supply filled at no charge with a valid prescription.

Suspected Scammer Behind Bars
A suspected national scam artist is behind bars this morning in Augusta, after trying to pull his stunt at Portman's Music.
35 year-old Jeffrey Canter is accused in a national credit card scheme.
He was arrested Saturday when the store owner recognized his face from an e-mail warning, and called the police.
Police say Canter used the scam 146 times around the country before his arrest.

Super C Closed
A popular night spot will have to close it's doors for good.
Commissioners voted tuesday to shut down Club Super C.
This comes after a shooting at the popular night club in July that killed 18 year-old Stedmund Fryer.

Sex Offender Behind Bars
Another sex offender is behind bars this morning.
Charles Mitchell is charged with 12 counts of criminal sexual conduct and lewd acts.
Deputies say he assaulted a 10 year-old girl in his home and in a van over a period of more than a year.
