AUGUSTA, Ga.---Castleberry's Food Company tells News 12 the company probably won't reopen until October, and it will take several months to reach full production.
The Augusta plant is closed due to botulism found in canned meat products.
As a result of the delay in reopening, probationary and temporary workers are losing their jobs.
Permanent workers are eligible for unemployment.
The product recall will cost Castleberry's about $35 million, including product recall and destruction, effectiveness checks, and quality inspections. That's less the company's $5 million in product recall insurance. The company says it is examining other insurance policies it may have.
