LINCOLN COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office now says eight people, not nine, are in jail after a drug raid in Lincoln County.
When the Sheriff's Office sent us the list, deputies included 24-year old Jonathan Courtland Pursley. Although, on Monday morning Lincoln County Sheriff Bruce Beggs said Pursley had been picked up Friday as part of a different investigation, not related to the drug raid. Pursley is being charged with contempt of court for child support, Sheriff Beggs said.
As for that drug raid, charges have not been finalized, but officers say the eight suspects were found with methamphetamine, marijuana, possible cocaine and other drugs Friday night. During the arrest officers were able to collect a substantial amount of methamphetamine, along with suspected marijuana and unlicensed liquor.
Officers arrested the following people:
Jeremy Bruce Evans, 35
Robert Dee Freeman, 28
Wyatt Leanord Holsenback, 59
Crystal Weaghington, 34
John Richard Wiggins
Kristine James, 31
Lila Nelson, 34
Carolyn Maria Norman, 35
The roundup was the culmination of a joint investigation between the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, the Lincolnton Police Department and the Georgia Department of Corrections Probation Division. The suspects remain in the Lincoln County Jail awaiting bond hearings.
Lincoln County Sheriff Bruce Beggs expects more arrests will be made as the investigation unfolds.
“Captain (Investigator) Wallen put a lot of time in working on this roundup of drug suspects, along with help from Major Tony Grooms. I am very proud of the work the men and women of our office are doing to help reduce the increase drug activity we are seeing, in both legal and illegal drugs,” the sheriff said.
