AUGUSTA, Ga. --- Members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority held their annual "International Day of Service" at May Park. This year’s theme was “Thirst,” organized to promote clean water.
People from Savannah River Site, Augusta Water Works and Augusta Utilities all had booths at the event.
People learned how to read their water meters and talked about the many uses of water.
“Water is becoming scarce, even our water bodies here, like our streams and our lakes, they are becoming polluted as well,” said event coordinator Ivy Ingram.
“We don’t talk about it enough, and it’s something that we really need to educate ourselves on.”
The event even had activities for the kids, including a face-painting booth, door prizes and a science project display.
