Buying anything on Craigslist can already be a tough sell. But a new scam is making it harder to trust what you can find on the site.

When you click on a Craigslist posting, you're linked to what looks like an eBay listing for the same product. But you guessed it -- it's not actually eBay.

But when you put it in your eBay username and password, the scammers have it. That means they could use your account to sell more items and scam others.

And if you're like some and use the same username and password for many accounts, your bank account or PayPal information could be in jeopardy too.

Here's how you protect yourself:

-- Never wire money.
-- Deal locally with people you can meet in person. Experts think you'll avoid most of the scams that end up on Craigslist
-- Never give out personal information
-- Don't use the same passwords for different sites and change them often
-- Be careful of suspicious stories, like someone who says he/she is leaving the country and wants to get rid of a car
