After three public hearings and lots of debate between Augusta commisioners, a final decision has been made about a property tax increase in Richmond County.
Thursday afternoon, the commission voted to increase the millage rate by .25 mills. That equals about $ 8.90 more on a $100,000 home.
City administrator Fred Russell says the tax increase will add about $750,000 to the general fund.
Richmond County property owners will see the increase reflected on their 2007 tax bill.
