AUGUSTA---An overnight fire forces two women and two kids to escape by going through a second story window to safety.

It happened around 1:15 am at the Walden West apartments. That's on the 2200 block of Walden drive in Augusta.

Investigators believe the fire started in the kitchen. They also say the front door was dead bolted and neither sister could find the key to unlock it.

We're told one woman jumped, while the other passed the kids to her through the second story window. She then left the building.

The Red Cross is helping the family.
