WARRENTON, Ga. -- At Monday night's school board meeting, Chairman Clara Roberts and Vice-chairman Cecil Brown resigned their positions. As a result, a new chairman and vice-chairman have been elected.

Gwen Tucker is the new chairman and Randy Morris is the new vice-chairman with Roberts and Brown maintaining their board seats.

According to Superintendent Carole Carey, the state has been working with them on their accreditation. She says the Governor's office, Lieutenant Governor's office, State Board of Education and many more have been very helpful and supportive of the school system.

Recently, state board members met with teachers and made sure they were aware that the problems with accreditation are not a result of teacher performance.

Supt. Carey has a bright outlook for the accreditation and feels things will be resolved to the benefit of students and staff.

The Warren County school system has until July 30 to meet standards of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools or they will lose accreditation.
