EVANS, Ga. --- Some people got a chance to fill their bowl and their belly, and it's all for a good cause.
More than five hundred people came out to the ninth annual Empty Bowl. The event is thrown by Golden Harvest Food Bank and the Augusta Jewish Community Center.
The event is held each year to collect canned goods and raise money to help feed the hungry.
For just one dollar - or a canned good - people could enjoy soup, bread and dessert -- all donated by local restaurants and served by a few familiar News 12 faces.
Local students also made decorative bowls to sell at the event.
The name "Empty Bowl" was selected to remind people in the community that there are many who go hungry around the CSRA.
