29-year-old Laurice Garvin was shot dead outside a neighbor's home Sunday night. It is the latest in a string of shootings in Allendale.

News 12 talked with the victim's mother. She says, "I'm hurt and I'm mostly hurt because they took my child from me and he had changed his life. The police got a lead on who did it but no one came and talk to me."

Sargent Steven Robinson of the Allendale County Sheriff's office says they're understaffed. He's calling on the community to help curb the violence. Robinson says, "We're very short on manpower we're doing the best that we can, but we need the community's help."

Another man was shot Saturday not far from the scene of Sunday's crime. Two shootings in two days has people worried this could be the begginning of a violent trend.

Local resident, Hassie Campfield says, "Crime is becoming an issue here and it doesn't seem like they're getting to the bottom of nothing."
