World Changers mission workers renovate Aiken homes

July 16, 2007

AIKEN, S.C.---Thousands of young people are giving up part of their summer to give back. It's part of a program through World Changers that will be working on some 21 houses in the Aiken area this week.

World Changes is a missions organization from the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.

This is not the first time Dayna Sweeney has participated, and there are some things that keep her coming back for more.

"I like to do the construction with the ministry," she said. "Just because my dad is a carpenter kind of guy. I like to hammer, and I like to do the saw, and I like to paint."

In its first year, 137 volunteers refurbished homes free of charge. Since then, 200,000 student volunteers have renovated more than 12,000 homes in communities worldwide.
