AUGUSTA, Ga.---Commissioners voted today against going forward with construction of a $20 million trade and exhibition center.

Plans for the Trade, Exhibit and Event Center, or TEE Center, have been struggling to get off the ground for some time.

Commissioners could not agree on management, a funding source, or a location for the center. Right now, the proposed site is downtown, next to the Marriott.

Barry White with the Convention and Visitors Bureau says his group will come back with another proposal, but adds the delay means the city is losing thousands of dollars from money already invested in the project.

Amazing. Truly amazing. When our genius commissioners care more about moving this community forward than they do about whether or not Billy Morris might benefit then maybe we'll be less of a laughing stock to the rest of the state. I'm not a Morris fan but he does know how to run a successful business. What does our government know how to run other than the civic center. Lord help us.
