A man charged with a lewd act against a minor 30 years ago tried to take his own life.
Officers tell News 12 former TV host and North Augusta public official Ed Meloan, known on television as Count Justin Sane, tried to commit suicide.
The incident report says Meloan's wife found him unresponsive in the couple's living room Saturday with empty pill bottles nearby. She also found what would have been a suicide note.
