AIKEN COUNTY, S. C. --- Christopher Murray and Beulah Brissey are accused of traveling hundreds of miles across South carolina pulling off armed robberies and now murder.
"We're glad to have them off the street. We don't want them in our county. They seemed to be violent people," said Aiken County Sheriff Michael Hunt.
Pickens County investigators believe Christopher Murray shot and killed 21-year old James Anthony Gibson at his Pickens home on Monday. They believe Murray told Beulah before escaping about the murder before escaping to Aiken County where the two were arrested.
"Through good police work and our investigators and running leads all day, they developed information on a location last night," said Sheriff Hunt.
But the tip on the duo's whereabouts would come from an unlikely person.
"I told them that's where he was and send them out there," said Christoper's sister Crystal Murray. She says she had just dropped her brother off at a home on andrews circle in Montmorenci when she got the call her brother was wanted. "I didn't know a thing until yesterday when I got a call saying the police is surrounding my house," said Murray.
"I truly am sorry (to the family affected). I can't live for my brother and I do send my remorse and will be praying for y'all."
But murder is just the latest of charges the duo's wanted on. Before driving more than 150 miles to Aiken County to allegedly hide from the murder, the pair is accused of armed robbery in both Pickens and Florence county. And for their crimes, Murray's sister says there's no excuse.
"The main thing I was thinking about was I have a little baby in the house. I was just thinking if that was my baby, I'd want whoever caught, said Murray.
Aiken County investigators say Brissey is back in Pickens County charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Christopher Murray is awaiting his extradition back to Pickens County where he faces robbery and murder charges.
