Crews work Woodrow Street house fire

June 25, 2007

AUGUSTA, Ga.---Crews were still on the scene of a house fire on Woodrow Street late this afternoon. That's off Central Avenue.

The fire started just after 1 o'clock. It took six trucks in all to put out the fire. Four of them were pumpers.

No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported.

This is my great aunt's home and the fire actually started around 11:00 a.m. and she WAS at home. She is the one who discovered smoke and got her animals out of the house before calling the fire department. Also, there were some firefighters who were taken to the hospital. I'm not sure of the outcome whether it was smoke inhalation or heat exhaustion. Just wanted to update you on some of the actual facts of this story.
