If you've ever wanted to know which hospitals are the best, the government may have just what you need. The Medicare website now has several rankings for hospitals around the nation, including most right here in the Augusta-Aiken area.
It's often tough to know which hospitals provide which service the best. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is trying to help you with that by providing a new limited report card for hospitals.
The hospital comparison web page allows you to look up hospitals by name or by city. Then you can sort through which one you want to check out and get background on.
You can then look up some statistics associated with the hospital and how it performs with things like heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia.
This is by no means a complete and full report card, but it can give you an idea of which hospital might be appropriate for you, depending on your situation.
Medical College of Georgia, Trinity Hospital, University Hospital, Doctor's Hospital and Aiken Regional Medical Center are among those you can check up on.
They all scored fairly well, but there were definitely some strengths and weaknesses for each of them.
