RICHMOND CTY, Ga.---A man accused of raping three women in Augusta is out of prison tonight.

New 12 has learned Charles Anthony James was released December 27 from the Georgia Department of Corrections. Richmond County investigators have confirmed that James boarded a bus from Valdosta headed to Augusta that same day.

James was arrested in June 2008 for sexually assaulting three women. Richmond County investigators said James picked the women up in his truck, drove them to a dark area, raped them and then cut their genitals with a razor.

At the time James had just been paroled after serving 9 years on an armed robbery conviction. He was released May 19, 2008, the same day as the first attack.

News 12 is told that when James was re-arrested he was sent back to Valdosta to serve out the rest of his conviction while he awaited trial in Augusta.

Investigators said James wasn't supposed to be released in December, he was supposed to be sent back to the Richmond County Jail to await trial regarding his June 2008 arrests stemming from the kidnapping, rapes and violent assaults on three women.

Investigators say James goes by Tony James and Tony Jones.

Charles James is considered extremely dangerous.

If you know where he is call the Richmond County Sheriff's Office at 706-821-1080.
