AIKEN CTY, S.C.---A man accused of threatening to kill the Wagner Salley High School principal used the Alford plea in an Aiken County courtroom Monday.

In an Alford plea, the defendant admits that there is enough evidence to convict him beyond a reasonable doubt, but does not admit to the crime.

The judge sentenced Tyler to the nearly eight months he's already spent in jail, so he's out now.

In May, Investigators say that Tregory Tyler threatened to kill principal Pat Keating. Deputies believe it started with disciplinary problems with Tyler's son who was in 10th grade at the school.

The school was locked down for 5 hours as police searched for Tyler. He was later arrested in Lee County, Fla. on unrelated charges.

Under the Alford plea, Tyler pleaded guilty to threatening the life of a person or family of a public official, disturbing school, and unlawful use of a telephone.
