Special Elections Today
Polls are open right now for Georgia's 10th District US congressional seat and also the 24th state senate seat.
If one candidate gets more than half of the vote today -- then there will be a run off on July 17th.
Polls close at 7:00pm.

Community Activist to Sue Commissioner
Community activist Woody Merry is promising another lawsuit against Augusta Commissioner Marion Williams.
Merry says he's going to sue Williams for violating his oath of office by calling Commissioner Joe Bowles a "boy" during a recent commission meeting, and by claiming to have a copy of the city administrator's hard drive.
Merry also says Williams is violating state ethics by not paying his property taxes.
News 12 contacted commissioner williams about the suit.
He says he hasnt violated any rules and plans to pay his overdue taxes.

Paine College Names Interim President
This morning, Paine College has a temporary leader.
Dr. Curtis Martin will fill the post until they find a permanent replacement.
Dr. Martin is currently the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost.
Dr. Shirley Lewis will retire at the end of this month.

Augusta Mall Update
Some big name stores are getting ready to open their doors at the Augusta Mall.
The general manager plans to add up to 25 stores including a Coach, Chico's, Banana Republic, Williams Sonoma, and a P.F. Changs restaurant.
Construction is more than half-way complete, and they plan to have a grand opening in November.

Augusta Unemployment
Augusta is high on the state's unemployment charts.
News 12 found more than 30 thousand people filed unemployment claims across the state, and Augusta is the 3rd from the top on the list of Georgia cities.
