Local Update - June 13, 2007

Overnight Shooting
An Aiken County woman is recovering after getting shot in the foot overnight.
It happened at the Clearwater Village Apartments just before one this morning.
The brother of the 19 year-old victim tells News 12, the woman's boyfreind and the father of her child were fighting, when a bullet hit her in the foot.
Investigators have a suspect but haven't made any arrests.

6 year-old Dead After Shooting
A 6 year-old boy is dead this morning after being shot in the head by his 7 year old brother.
Austin Robertson died Tuesday night at the hospital.
It happened at a home on Cedar Rock Road just outside of Thomson.
Investigators say the boys found their grandfather's pistol in his closet and took it out to play with it.
This morning the 7 year-old boy and his 4 year-old sister are in protective custody with a relative.

Fallen Soldier Remembered
Memorial services will also be held today at Fort Gordon for a local soldier who lost his life in the war on terror.
Family, friends and colleagues will remember Sergeant First Class Robert Dunham.
He was killed in Iraq May 24th.
The services will be held this morning at 10 am at Alexander Hall on Chamberlin Avenue.

More Local Soldiers Deployed
This morning some local soldiers are in Fort Bliss, Texas, getting ready to head to Iraq.
They left Tuesday from Waynesboro.
The 180 members of the 1st Battalion, 214th Field Artillery Battery will be stationed at a military prison in Iraq for a year.

Soldiers Getting Ready For Deployment
The 63rd Signal Battalion is hosting a deployment fair today at the courtyard on Brainard Avenue and 36th Street.
The fair gets started at 1 this afternoon and runs until 5 tonight.
The soldiers will leave for Iraq in July.
