Superintendent Short List
The Richmond County School Board is one step closer to naming a new person to head up the school district. Members now have three finalists for the superintendent position.
They are Dr. Shirley Carraway from Hillsborough, North Carolina, Dr. Susan Clark from McDonough, Georgia, and Dr. Dana Bedden from Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. One of these three should be in place by August.

School Board Considering Raising Taxes
You might have to dig deeper into your wallet when you pay your Richmond County property taxes. Board members tell News 12, they might have to raise them because of a budget deficit. Members will review more plans Thursday and vote on the final budget by the end of the month.

Augusta City Attorney Fired
Augusta is looking for a new city attorney after Commissioners fired Eugene Jessup Tuesday. The mayor asked him to resign last month, but he did not step down. Now, city leaders begin their search for a replacement.

No Apologies
This morning, a commissioner is promising to keep adding an item to the agenda until he gets what he wants: an apology for another commissioner. Tuesday, the Augusta Commission decided to uphold its decision to censure Calvin Holland. Last month, the commission publicly reprimanded him for requesting a copy of the City Administrator Fred Russel's hard drive.

Golf and Grdens to Close
The Augusta Golf and Gardens is set to close in three weeks. The Board of Directors says it will shut down June 30 because of a lack of operational funds. Governor Sonny Perdue took the money out of the state budget last week.
