AUGUSTA, Ga---Augusta city attorney Eugene Jessup was fired by the Augusta commission Tuesday afternoon. Nine commissioners were present for the vote. All thos present voted in favor of his termination, except for Jimmy Smith.

Mayor Copenhaver asked Jessup to resign a month ago, but he did not.
Jessup was hired in January to replace attorney Steve Shepard.
Since then, he's had run-ins with some commissioners after he seized the hard drive of an attorney under him. He also wanted her fired for doing personal business on the city computer.

There is no word yet on Jessup's replacement.
