The Aiken County coroner has identified the victim of this morning's fatal accident in Warrenville. Marcus A. Bass, 24 years old, of Warrenville died at the scene of the single vehicle crash that occurred around 8:15 a.m. this morning near the intersection of Highway 421 and Gentry Hill Road in Warrenville, S.C.

According to a witness, Bass was traveling at a high rate of speed and tried to pass in the right lane. He lost control of the 2000 Ford Expedition, left the roadway and struck several trees. Bass was ejected from the vehicle.

An unnamed passenger was transported to a local hospital. Neither Bass nor the passenger were wearing their seatbelts.

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office, South Carolina Highway Patrol and Langley Fire Department along with the Aiken County Coroner's office were on the scene all morning. The accident is being investigated by the coroner's office and SCHP. The initial report says speed may have been a factor.
