Fatal Accident

One person is dead, and another is injured in a car crash. This happened on Harlem-Grovetown Road near Old Louisville road.

The car rolled several times.

Crews are working to clean up the road so traffic can get through.

Local Students Awaiting TB Test Results

This morning, two dozen local college students are waiting on results to see if they have tuberculosis.

The 24 USC-Aiken students, along with 2 faculty members and a spouse, were on the same flight with a Georgia man who is infected with a very dangerous form of the disease.

News 12 has learned 2 of the students were apparently sitting near the man, possibly in the same row. 4 other students went on the trip but were on a different flight.

Today's Graduation Schedule

Aiken High graduates at 6 tonight at the James Taylor Activity Center.
Wagener-Salley high starts at 6:30 in the gym.
North Augusta High School has its graduation ceremony at 7 tonight.
Midland Valley High also gets started at 7.
Then, South Aiken High students take their walk at 8 tonight.

Smoking Ban In Effect Today

Things will change today for smokers in parts of Aiken County. That's because starting today, smoking will not be allowed in public places in the unincorporated parts of the county.

The county-wide smoking ban was approved earlier this year.

SC Tax Increase

You may notice a small change on your receipt in South Carolina. The sales tax increases by one percent today.

Workers with the Department of Revenue say the money made from the tax increase will be credited to the Homestead Exemption fund, which will help reduce property taxes.
