AUGUSTA, Ga -- Richmond County's Assistant Deputy Coroner is at MCG at this hour, after News 12 is told a body was found at the Super Inn on Gordon Highway early this morning.

Dispatch says it got the call about a stabbing around 4:15 am.

Investigators have identified the victim as Jimmy Finley Jackson, 44 years old, from Augusta. They said it appears he had been stabbed to death, but they are not releasing any other information at this hour.

The Sheriff's Office have said there are people of interest in the case. Additional information will be released once an autopsy is complete.

Jackson was no stranger to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office. He'd been arrested several times since 2001 for charges including theft by taking, forgery, cocaine possession and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
