Have you ever wanted to drive fast?

I mean, really fast?

In this Special Assignment, we take you to a place with no speed limits, where you can really put the pedal to the metal.

News 12 sent me, Meredith Anderson, through the Richard Petty Driving Experience at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. You drive a real stock car with a real sponsor.

How fast you actually go...depends entirely upon you.

NASCAR is all about speed, guts, and the trill. In a sport that's mostly made up of testosterone, News 12 adds a little estrogen. Mine.

The Richard Petty Driving experience is a chance for you to get behind the wheel. You don't just pretend to be a NASCAR driver, you get to be one.

At first, I wasn't nervous, but when I saw the cars and the track, and my mind began to race. Also, out of the 30 drivers, I am the only female. It's not just "gentleman" starting their engines today.

After getting buckled in, it's time. Here we go!

Suddenly, as I enter the track, the nerves are gone.

As I go faster and faster, I have to remind myself to breathe.

My heart is also pounding out of my chest, but it's not in a bad way. In fact, the adrenaline is incredible.

The 8 laps go by fast--literally.

There are no speedometers in the car, so you have to wait until your turn is over to find out how fast you actually went.

My fastest speed was 141 miles per hour.

141!

Now, it's your turn. I can't wait to see what the speed does to you.
