AUGUSTA, Ga.---A suspicious package was found earlier this afternoon at the office of prominent local businessman and former Board of Regents chairman Tim Shelnut.
The Richmond County bomb squad, K-9 unit, and fire crews were called to the scene at about 1:30 this afternoon. Fire crews tell us a woman in Mr. Shelnut's office opened the package to find a VHS tape that had been taken apart and then taped back together. When she shook it, it rattled, so she took it back outside.
Crews cleared the scene at that time, and the suspicious package was picked up by the robot and has been transported to the Richmond County training range in Blythe to be detonated.
