AUGUSTA, Ga.---A former national Teacher of the Year has written a letter, wanting to make sure school board members talk to teachers about the Voyager reading program before they decide to keep it.

Andy Baumgartner left teaching in Richmond County for Columbia County, and he stated publicly at the time it was because of Voyager.

Baumgartner was a nationally-decorated teacher and had decades of classroom experience.

We interviewed him last year in our special investigation into Voyager, where he said the scripted program took away from teacher creativity.
