WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Maclaren USA, Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of their single and double umbrella strollers.

The recall involves about one million strollers. The models affected are Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, TechnoXLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller. The word “Maclaren” is printed on the stroller. They were sold at Babies R Us, Target and other retailers nationwide from 1999 through November 2009 with a retail price of between $100 and $360.

According to the recall, the stroller’s hinge mechanism can cause a fingertip amputation and laceration hazard to the child when the stroller is being opened or unfolded. There have been 15 reports of children putting their finger in the hinge mechanism with 12 resulting in fingertip amputations.

If you have one of these strollers, stop using them immediately and contact Maclaren USA to receive a free repair kit. You can contact Maclaren USA toll-free at 877-688-2326 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit their Web site at www.maclaren.us/recall.
