While one major area of road construction is coming to an end, another is just beginning.
The Georgia Department of Transportation says work has begun on Richmond County’s first road project funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The project is estimated at $4 million dollars and will include over 9.9 miles of resurfacing and shoulder reconstruction. The road affected will be Deans Bridge Road (Star Route 4/US 1) beginning north of Sandy Run Creek and extending south of Tobacco Road.
The project is expected to be completed by early 2010.
Motorists are advised to slow down and use extra caution in this and all work zones.
