HEPHZIBAH, Ga.---We have a follow-up story about a woman who says she was scammed by a conniving contractor.

This time it's good news.

Thanks to big-time local generosity, a Hephzibah woman has had her faith in humankind restored and her house fixed.

It's a story of picking up someone who needs it...a tale of goodwill.

Let's start from the beginning.

You first met Verna Wright back in February. She was the Hephzibah woman who says she was preyed upon by a contractor who didn't deliver what he promised.

"It's all rotten under here. He was supposed to put on boards," Verna told us then.

Verna says the contractor promised to fix her house. Instead he left her with a big mess and a big hole in her bank account nearly $5000 wide.

Within days of her story airing on 12 On Your Side, Sean Gavin called us. His company, Dalm Services, wanted to fix Verna's house for free.

That's amazing, considering the house needed thousands of dollars of work.

It wasn't long before Gavin and his son got to work.

"They've worked so fast," Verna told 12 On Your Side when we went to see how it was going.

Once everything was prepped, another big piece of generosity came in, courtesy of Southern Siding.

They gave Verna a complete siding job for free.

"These guys are pros," said Charles Gorse of his team. "We've been doing this for 44 years in Augusta. We know our way around a siding job pretty good."

Once the siding was done, Sean came back to touch up a few more things, and that was it. Verna's house had undergone a complete transformation.

You might say she likes it.

"It's awesome!" she cried. "No, the right word is phenomenal. I am jubilant. I am so elated.

"It looks like one of those $500,000 homes to me."

It was a house transformed by the charity of others.

"We just wanted to help someone," Gavin said.

"As far as Southern Siding, we've enjoyed a good business in this community, and we try to give back to it every chance we can," Gorse said.

Afterwards, Verna gave back what she could...in the form of hugs and words.

"Come here child! I love you!" she said to one contractor, grabbing him into a hug and kiss.

"Oh lord, I love you Channel 12," she said. "I love you from the bottom of my heart."

We have a lot of thank yous to go out to area businesses for making this project a reality.

A huge thanks to Sean Gavin and Dalm Services and also Southern Siding.

Also a big thanks to Advanced Disposal, Sherwin-Williams on Wrightsboro Road, and Lowe's on Bobby Jones for chipping in on all the supplies.

In total, those companies donated $8165 worth of supplies. That brings the amount 12 On Your Side has recovered to $209,125.
