SC considers requiring abortion patients to view ultrasounds

March 20, 2007

South Carolina is taking up an issue that's also moving through the Georgia Legislature.

Governor Mark Sanford says he supports a plan to require women seeking abortions to see an ultrasound of the fetus.

The House discussed it, but it's been postponed.

It would be the first law of its kind in the US.

Georgia's law would only make the ultrasounds available to women before an abortion.
