LINCOLNTON, Ga.---Two suspects are now in the Lincoln County Jail, charged with holding up the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Lincolnton.
Juwan Beard and Anthony Emetu, both from Wrens and brothers-in-law, have surrendered to police.
Last night, there was a lengthy search for the two in Wrens. We were there, and we went there again this afternoon to get reaction.
"I seen helicopters, I seen police, I seen FBI's, GBI's," said neighbor Sharon Nelson.
Nelson called it a parade of police.
"I was a little bit shaken and nervous, because I didn't know what had happened," she said.
"Somebody called me and asked me what was going on next door, and I said, 'I don't know, I was sleeping'," said neighbor Willy Williams.
But multiple agencies were wide awake at a home on the corner of Fleming and Walker streets.
Neighbors are still digesting what happened.
"We just looked out the window and, you know, saw all these people, all these cars," Roy Wilcher said. "We didn't know what was going on."
According to Wrens Police Chief David Hannah, Anthony Emetu, a suspected bank robber, was thought to have been inside the house.
News 12 was there as flashing lights lit up this heavily lived-in neighborhood.
"You don't want to put an officer's or anybody's life in jeopardy, and you want to try to take the suspect in, best way you can," Chief Hannah said.
As hours dragged on, they finally stormed inside, but Emetu wasn't there.
By 2 o'clock this afternoon, he surrendered to police and was charged with armed robbery.
"I didn't know him too good," said John Norris, who lives across the street from Emetu. "I knew he wasn't no good, but I didn't associate with him at all."
Now others are asking themselves just how well they really knew their neighbor.
This may not be Emetu's first run-in with the law. Mr. Norris told us he's had to call police before because of Emetu's loud music.
This was a multi-county operation that started at the Farmer's and Merchants Bank in Lincolnton.
Two men robbed that bank, then ditched their car on Old Petersburg Road in Lincolnton.
Juwan Beard was arrested last night at the corner of Walker and Patrick Street in Wrens.
Police agencies from several counties met at the second suspect's home on Fleming Street in Wrens. They searched it, but he wasn't there.
Anthony Emetu surrendered to police today in Augusta off Gordon Highway.
Both men are facing armed robbery charges.
