AUGUSTA, Ga.---Eva Taylor is relieved and overjoyed that Richmond County investigators have captured two of the three suspects wanted for the murder of her youngest son, 27-year-old John Grimes.

Grimes was gunned down last June in front of the 98 Cent Beauty and Beyond store on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Grimes was riding his bike down 12th Street when a bullet hit his chest, and he later died.

Last night, Richmond County authorities arrested 23-year-old Alvin Leon Scott, Jr. during a traffic stop at Lumpkin and Richmond Hill roads. The second suspect, 20-year-old Bryant Collier, was already in custody, in jail on an unrelated charge.

Now police are looking for the final suspect, Terrell Antonio Green.

This latest arrest in the case has really touched the victim's family. Eva Taylor tells us her heart is filled with happiness now that another of her son's alleged killers is off the street.

"So now they're off the streets...they won't hurt nobody else's child," she said. "They going to get theirs so I'm not worried about it...but I went through pain and trials and tribulations, and I hope no mother has to suffer what I went through."

Richmond County police arrested the second suspect on what would have been John Grimes' 29th birthday. Eva says the timing couldn't have been more perfect, and that it's justice for her son.

Tonight on News 12 First at Five and 6 O'Clock, you'll hear more from Eva Taylor and also how the community pulled together and helped Richmond County investigators with this case.

The following news release regarding the John Grimes murder was issued by the Richmond County Sheriff's Office:

Augusta cold case solved

Over the past few weeks, Investigators received credible information that led them to possible suspects in the John Grimes murder investigation.

Investigators were able to identify three (3) individuals (listed below), who they believe are responsible for the shooting death of Grimes and the Aggravated Assault on Griffin. Two of the suspects, Collier and Scott are now in the R.C. Jail and the 3rd suspect, Green is at large.

Green already has an outstanding Parole Violation Warrant in addition to the charges related to this case. Investigators have made several attempts to locate Green and he is aware that he is wanted by Law Enforcement but has managed to elude capture.

Even though the murder investigation is still ongoing, the primary focus is on Green’s capture and all available resources are being diverted to that task.

With this case now being solved, Isaiah Selman is the only unsolved murder of 2006.

The following suspects are all charged with:
Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime

Terrell Antonio Green, 19 (WANTED)

Bryant Collier, 20 (IN CUSTODY)

Alvin Leon Scott Jr., 23 (IN CUSTODY)

Charges related to Griffin’s injuries are pending and will filed at a later time
