JACKSON, S.C.---A mother is in jail and her son is in the hospital recovering.
Police say Johnna Wilson shot her son at their home in Jackson during a dispute last night.
Their home is in a very quiet area in Jackson, near several farms. Authorities say an argument between the woman and her son got so heated, it almost became deadly.
John Wilson is home alone tonight. His daughter Johnna Wilson is behind bars, and her 20-year-old son Justin Jarrett is at MCG in critical condition.
"My daughter shot my grandboy," John told News 12. "They got in an argument. She shot him."
John was in the backyard last night when he heard a shot.
Lt. Michael Frank says Johnna Wilson fired a .44 caliber handgun through her bedroom door.
"That round struck her son in the chest," Lt. Frank said. "He was critically injured."
Investigators were called out to the home on Brown Road in Jackson, South Carolina just after 8 o'clock Thursday night.
By all accounts, the shooting was a result of an ongoing heated argument between the two.
"We're still investigating what the motive was, what the argument was all about," Lt. Frank said.
We stopped by Jarrett Rifles, the family-owned business just feet from the home where Justin Jarrett works. Roy Braddy was aware of the ongoing argument but had nothing to say.
Ms. Wilson is being charged with assault and battery with the intent to kill and possession of weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
There's no clear answer as to what the argument was all about. Investigators aren't sure if Wilson intended to actually shoot Jarrett or if she fired out of frustration.
