Woman shoots son

A young man is recovering from a gunshot wound this morning after a fight with his mother.

45-year-old Johnna Wilson is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Deputies responded to 353 Brown Road in Jackson around 8:30 Thursday night.

Aiken County Sheriff Michael Hunt says Wilson and her son, Justin Jarrett, were arguing when Wilson fired a handgun through a door.

Jarrett was struck in the chest. He was taken to MCG, where he remains in critical condition.

Murder suspect captured

A fugitive and murder suspect is in back in jail.

28-year-old Maurice Lashaun Roscoe was arrested Thursday in the shooting death of 21-year-old Pierce McClattie, Jr.

Investigators got a tip that led them to the Dogwood Terrace housing project. Then another tip took them to the Relax Inn on Gordon Highway, where Roscoe surrendered.

Officers found a 9 millimeter handgun they believe he used for the murder.

Roscoe was previously featured on the CSRA's Most Wanted, wanted for a shooting incident at an apartment complex in Grovetown.

He faces multiple charges including one count of murder and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

One dead, three injured in Jimmie Dyess accident

One woman is dead and three others badly injured after an accident on Jimmie Dyess Parkway.

It happened near the intersection with Belair Road around 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. A station wagon hit a wall.

Richmond County deputies tell News 12 the female driver of the station wagon died.

A Georgia State Patrol officer says three people in a black Kia Spectra were taken to the Medical College of Georgia.

At time of writing, they were listed in critical condition.

Augusta soldier's death under investigation

The death of an Augusta soldier is under investigation.

The Department of Defense announced yesterday that Spc. Christopher Boone died February 17 in Balad, Iraq.

It was not a combat injury.

Boone was in the 121st Infantry, part of the Army National Guard out of Fort Gillem.

Election date set for Norwood's successor

On June 19 we'll know who will fill Georgia's 10th District seat in Congress.

That person will replace Congressman Charlie Norwood, who died last week.

State lawmakers who want to run won't have to resign their current jobs until after the legislative session.

Among those who've said they're running are state senators Jim Whitehead and Ralph Hudgens, along with Terry Holley and Dr. Paul Broun.
