AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Wesley Spires, the man who was a victim in the brutal attack on the Riverwalk, will be coming home soon.

Spires, 27, and Ashley Solesbee were robbed and beaten at the beginning of last month.

Spires' family says he is still recovering from his injuries.

A 5k run/walk in his honor will be held on Sept. 21 at 8 a.m. on North Augusta's Greeneway. All the proceeds will go the Wesley Spires Benefit Fund, which will help his family pay for his medical bills.
