GLASCOCK CTY, Ga.---Due to an increasing absentee rate, the Glascock County Consolidated School will be closed on Friday, September 4.
According to a letter from the Glascock County Board of Education, the absentee rate is primarily due to gastrointestinal viruses and flu. The letter goes on to say they have no confirmed cases of H1N1 influenza. A call to the school confirmed they have had 130 students out due to illness.
Beginning Friday, the school classrooms will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. By having four consecutive days at home, they believe it will break the incubation cycle.
