James Junior left out of Brown's will

James Brown's most prized possessions will be divvied up among his children. However, one woman says one child is left out.

Brown's will was read in an Aiken County court Thursday. It names six children, leaving out James Junior, Tomi Rae Brown's son.

The will began *I, James Brown, also known as 'the Godfather of Soul', have 6 living children."

The will divided his boats, jewelry, and cars between them.

Brown signed it 10 months before James Junior's birth and a year before his marriage to Tomi Rae.

Tomi Rae married James Brown in 2001.

His will was dated August 1, 2000.

Tomi Rae's attorney says she will go all the way to South Carolina's Supreme Court to sue for half of Brown's estate and trust.

Cold weather bad news for animal shelter

The cold weather is a big concern at the Aiken County Animal Shelter.

The shelter has some 130 dogs but just 55 kennels. Do the math there.

Director Dennis Broom says the overcrowding means some animals are being left out in the cold, and that creates a bigger problem because the animals can not be adopted until they've been inside the shelter for a week.

"Right now, it seems unusually crowded," he told News 12. "It's not usually this crowded. I can't explain that."

The shelter is planning to add more kennels soon, but until space is available, you can help by donating blankets, dog houses, and cedar shavings.

You can call the Aiken County Animal Shelter at 803-642-4537 to find out more.
