AUGUSTA, Ga.---Community activist Woody Merry of CSRA Help says there needs to be a bigger investigation into how your money is being spent in Augusta. He says the bidding process for contractors is inconsistent, and often questionable.
The whole issue came up over a bid from Thomson Wrecking to demolish a building.
They say their bid was lower, but it was tossed out on a technicality.
Merry says this type of thing that could save a lot of your cash.
"We are deeply concerned about the relationship between Marion Williams, Geri Sams, the procurement department, and any other elected official or independent contractor," Merry said. "We don't know if there has been any criminal violation; we just want to expand our investigation."
Merry also says some of this ties into their own investigation into the possible location of a drag strip.
CSRA Help forwarded their findings to the sheriff's office.
