Washington Road water main break

Workers with the Richmond County Water Company spent the early morning hours dealing with a water main break.

Crews were called out to Washington Road between Doris Diamonds and Subway around 1:30 this morning.

They had to contain a good bit of water in an alleyway.

No word on what caused the break.

Two teens die in clay pit

Funeral arrangements are in the making for two Aiken County teenagers who suffocated after being buried alive.

15-year-old Joshua McLaughlin and 14-year-old Mathew Morris were found dead Sunday when dirt fell on them in a clay pit.

The boys were playing there after church when a family member later found one of the bodies and called 9-1-1.

After digging for an hour, emergency crews found the second body.

Man wanted in downtown murder

Richmond County investigators are trying to solve their 20th murder case of the year.

They're looking for Cornelius Wright.

Wright is wanted for shooting 22-year-old Mitchieano Carmicheal.

Carmicheal's body was found Sunday night with several wounds in the parking lot of Mom and Pop's Store in the Harrisburg area.

Officers say the victim and the suspect knew each other.

"Santa" kidnaps child

A local girl may never see Santa the same.

Authorities say 55-year-old John Barton of Batesburg told the 8-year-old to look at Rudolph in his motorcycle.

Then, he forced her to ride in the sidecar.

This all happened Sunday at a convenience store off I-20 near Columbia.

Her father, Tripp Morris, came to her rescue after chasing Barton at 80 miles per hour.

Morris confronted him in a parking lot, taking his daughter back.

"I hear the motorcycle crank up and I'm like, 'Oh, that's pretty loud.' And the next thing I know my wife's hollering, 'Tripp, go get him. Go get him. They've taken our daughter.'"

Barton is being held in the Lexington County Jail.

He's charged with kidnapping and bond is set at $100,000.

Two men wanted in Columbia County robbery

In Columbia County, deputies are trying to catch up with two men they want to talk to about a robbery Monday morning.

One is about 40 years old, 5' 9", with a slim build. He weighs between 165 and 170 pounds, has sandy-colored hair, and a mustache.

The second suspect is about 5' 8", with a stocky build, weighing 170 to 180 pounds. He has dark hair and a long dark scruffy beard.

The men were last seen driving a black 1988 or 1989 ford pickup.

The truck has a red stripe down the middle.

Three men wanted in Aiken County dog fighting ring

Aiken County deputies are still looking for three men from a dog fighting bust in Wagener.

Officers already charged Leon Davis of Wagener and Samuel Seawright of Perry South Carolina with animal fighting on Sunday.

Deputies now have warrants out for the arrest of Isaiah Jerry and Willie Seawright, Jr. of Wagener and Jermaine Wooden of Salley.

Officers were tipped off about the dog fighting.
