AUGUSTA---Storms hit our area for a second straight night. This time, most of the damage was to Augusta neighborhoods.
The storms rolled through pretty early in the evening. Today is cleanup day.
Strong winds knocked a tree onto a car on Broad Street. Thankfully the people were able to escape the car safely, but their car was crushed. Unfortunately, the folks were out-of-towners, so that's surely a headache for them.
Several trees were down on Woodbine Drive in the National Hills subdivision, just off Washington Road. One tree fell on a home.
"I was just sitting on my front porch listening to the wind and in this neighborhood there are a lot of trees....didn't even hear a noise just heard a boom," said Nancy Johnson, who lives on Woodbine Dr.
Over in South Carolina, News 12's assignment manager Jill Maxwell described the weather as "raining pine cones" because the wind was so strong.
There were a lot of power outages, and many were without power late into the night.
Damage was also reported on Highway 56 in Waynesboro; 26th Street on Fort Gordon; Bell Street in Harlem; and Plantation Road in Edgefield.
