A Warrenville man is behind bars on charges of sexually assaulting four small children.
Those who live closest to Brandon K. Johnston say they're shocked.
Four different boys, four different times.
Officers say his youngest victim was just four years old.
"I'd seen little boys in that yard, but who would've think you know?" said neighbor Esther Hall. "It's utterly disgusting."
Esther Hall says 22-year-old Brandon Kyle Johnston has lived right next door for about six years off and on.
He was a familiar face.
"The last person you suspect is your neighbor. It just doesn't happen around here."
But authorities say it did.
According to the arrest warrants, between May 2001 and August 2002 Johnston sexually assaulted two boys ages four and five years old.
But it didn't stop there.
Also in the arrest warrant, two more boys on Chastity Lane in North Augusta also say Johnston attacked them from August 2002 to May 2004.
"How could anyone do that?" asked neighbor Janie Chayvis. "How could they enjoy something like that? That's just terrible."
Janie is a grandmother of six. She was shaken up when we told her about the charges her neighbor faces.
"You think you know them, but you don't. You used to trust your neighbors," Janie said.
Now this small town community says they're keeping a close eye on who comes in and out of their streets.
"I suspect anyone new that moves in that i don't know," said Esther.
Johnston is being held in the Aiken County Detention Center.
Jail administrators tell us a magistrate denied him bond on all four counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
