The Aiken County Sheriff's Office responded to a call at 12:34 this afternoon about an armed robbery at Security Federal Bank in Clearwater.
A man reportedly entered the bank and tried to get behind the counter. He couldn't get through a locked door, so he demanded that two clerks fill a small backpack with cash. They complied, and he fled on foot.
He was last seen running into the woods in the direction of Clearwater Village Apartments. Bloodhounds have been brought out and a search is underway.
The suspect is described as a black man wearing a mask, checked jacket, and dark pants. He was armed with a handgun.
