Four men want to lead the city of Augusta, and News 12 caught up with all of them today.

Voting has been steady at the polls all afternoon, and the race for Augusta mayor is important to a lot of people, because this person elected will be in this seat for the next four years.

By now, many of you have cast your vote, but the push at the polls is still on, at least for another hour.

The four candidates for Augusta mayor want to make sure you know what they're about.

"The message of change--we started it last year, we progressed a lot in one year with me as mayor, and we just need to finish the job today and keep bringing that progressive change," said Deke Copenhaver.

Copenhaver may have the power of incumbency, but businessman Steve Kendrick says don't count him out.

"I worked very hard this campaign season to have folks get to know who I am, and Augusta needs someone like me to be at the helm," he said.

Ronnie Few, Augusta's former fire chief, is fired up about this election. He says he's ready to reform Augusta's government, starting today.

"We want to change Augusta, Georgia, and this is the day that we start changing Augusta, Georgia," he said. "And remember, a vote for Few is a vote for you."

Last but not least is William "Gil" Gilyard. He may not be the most well-known of the bunch, but he tells us he's running on his record.

"The record that I have is simply one of accomplishment, and I think it's almost like the stock market," he said. "In order to determine what you do in the future, you have to look back."

And also like the stock market, there's a lot at stake...but we'll have to wait and see if winner takes all tonight or if this race takes us to another round.

To win tonight, a candidate must get 50 percent plus one vote. Last year, there were also four candidates in the race, and it ended in a runoff...but every year is different, so we'll be watching the numbers.
