The Georgia Department of Labor has announced it will reopen its investigation into the accident on the Orbiter ride at the Georgia-Carolina State Fair that left 13-year-old Desire Northington in critical condition.

The department's statement reads as follows:

New information is coming forth from additional witnesses that appears to conflict with earlier accounts.

Therefore, the Georgia Department of Labor will seek to interview those witnesses and will conduct more extensive tests on the amusement ride in question.

We have discontinued operation of that ride until further notice.
