New information today on month-old house fire in Martinez.
Now officials are saying it may have been no accident.
The fire destroyed everything in its path, gutting the home from the inside out. What appeared initially to be an unintended disaster for one home now has the state marshal's office launching an investigation.
The fire happened in the Applecross community in Martinez around 3 a.m. on September 12.
Columbia County's Fire Rescue tells us after the blaze was put out, firefighters found evidence left behind that may point to arson.
They say they report less than ten suspicious fires on average a year.
The state marshal's office says they are waiting for samples to come back from the state crime lab before they can comment on the ongoing investigation.
A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for anyone with information.
You're asked to call the Arson Tip Hotline at 1800-282-5804.
